Year 1, Term 2, Week 6: *slightly* slowed down week

Looking at my calendar, week 6 didn’t look to be all that horrible – and thankfully it wasn’t.  Apart from one analysis sheet that was just terrible, the rest of the week went fine.  No practicals meant more time to relax / look over things to try and understand them better.   GRF seems to be going alright too – not too much new material yet, just making stuff more abstract than what we’ve already done.  And the weather is improving too.  However, all these good things obviously come at a cost – namely, having a cold and so not being able to enjoy it!

Some highlights of this week included:

  • Playing with Play-Doh with Charlie, Ash and Eilise… although we didn’t use the shape-making machine – we’re saving that machine for pixel cookies over Easter when I’m visiting.
  • Having computer science tutorials!
  • (I was supposed to be going to a medical lecture this week with David, but due to his rowing activities I wasn’t able to go in the end… David, if you’re reading this, be better at your resolution of being contactable!

This week I started watching Flight of the Conchords – an episode of randomness every once in a while is nice to look forward to after having completed a fair amount of work.  Unfortunately, this week I bought an excessive amount of food of the unhealthy kind, so I’m probably going to get fat, oops.

The rowing torpids was this week too – basically, it’s a race between the Oxford colleges, where they attempt to bump into each other’s boats, with essentially the more boats that they successfully bump into, the better they do.  Unfortunately, Keble didn’t do so well this year, was going to go down to the riverside to watch, but I had silly problem sheets piling up near the end of the week.  (The fact that we actually have some kind of computer science tutorials now kind of means that we have to start doing the problem sheets.  Doing all of the problem sheets from two 8-week long courses in 2 weeks?  Not good.)  Christ Church was the winner in the men’s race, while St Catz came out top in the women’s race.

So, after this week there’s only 2 more weeks to go until I head back to home in Northern Ireland.  Quite looking forward to it now, will be nice to see everyone again… although thankfully, unlike last term, it’s not like I’m dying to get away home!  No, thankfully the workload has been a lot more manageable this term, and I’ve been able to get out and about a lot more, which is always fun. :D

PS: Doesn’t this bring back memories?
